Block of sandstone (w: 0.97 x h: 0.47 x d: 0.41) originally stuccoed, from a monumental inscription: traces of stucco survive in the letters: the stone is badly worn at the left-hand end.

Commentary:

l.2: At this point the text may have patron]um mun[icipi.]

A welcome addition to the small number of early inscriptions on stuccoed sandstone from Sabratha; see Introductions, Sabratha, Section 4.

Presumably from municipium or munus: if the former, the text would suggest that the Punic constitution of Sabratha was remodelled in the late first century, as was that of Lepcis Magna (see Introductions, Lepcis, Section 3), both cities perhaps becoming municipia, presumably with Latin Rights.
